Announcement‏ : New Archbishop of the Maronites of Cyprus

The Holy Maronite Archbishopric of Cyprus announces that after the Bishop’s Synod of the Patriarchal Maronite Church of Antioch and the approval of the election by His Holiness the Pope Benedictus XVI the new Archbishop of the Maronites of Cyprus is his Esxcellcy Mons. Youssef Antoine Soueif.

According to the tradition of the Maronite Church, the ordination of the new Archbishop will take place on Saturday 6th December 2008 by his Eminency The Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir at Basilica Our Lady of Lebanon in Harissa, at 3.30 pm, in the presence of the Bishop’s Synod.

The enthronement of the New Archbishop of the Maronites of Cyprus will take place on Sunday 21st December, 2008 at 10.00 a.m in the Cathedral Church of our Lady of Graces at Paphos Gate in Nicosia.

Α Ν Α Κ Ο Ι Ν Ω Σ Η : Νέος Αρχιεπίσκοπος Μαρωνιτών Κύπρου

Η Ιερά Αρχιεπισκοπή Μαρωνιτών Κύπρου ανακοινώνει ότι μετά από απόφαση της Ιεράς Συνόδου του Μαρωνιτικού Πατριαρχείου της Αντιόχειας και επικύρωση της απόφασης από τον Πάπα Βενέδικτο, νέος Αρχιεπίσκοπος Μαρωνιτών Κύπρου θα είναι ο Μακαριώτατος Ιωσήφ Αντωνίου Σουέϊφ.

Ως η παράδοση της Μαρωνιτικής Εκκλησίας, η χειροτονία του νέου Αρχιεπισκόπου θα γίνει το Σάββατο 06 Δεκεμβρίου 2008 από τον εκλαμπρότατο Καρδινάλιο Πατριάρχη των Μαρωνιτών κκ. Νασαράλλα Πούτρος Σφεϊρ στο Μαρωνίτικο Πατριαρχείο στο Λίβανο, στην παρουσία της Ιεράς Συνόδου.

Η ενθρόνιση του νέου Αρχιεπισκόπου Μαρωνιτών Κύπρου θα γίνει την Κυριακή 21 Δεκεμβρίου 2008 στις 10:00 π.μ. στον Καθεδρικό Ναό της Παναγίας των Χαρίτων παρά την Πύλη Πάφου στη Λευκωσία.

Ο Γραμματέας του Πατριαρχείου Μαρωνιτών ανακοινώνει ότι η Σύνοδος των Επισκόπων της Πατριαρχικής Μαρωνιτικής Εκκλησίας, έχει εκλέξει τον Σεβασμιώτατον Ιωσήφ Αντωνίου Σουέιφ, Εφημέριον της Εκκλησίας Αγίου Μάρωνα Τριπόλεως και Επισκοπικόν Βικάριον διά ποιμαντικά θέματα της Εκκλησιαστικής Επαρχίας Τριπόλεως, Αρχιεπίσκοπον της Εκκλησιαστικής Επαρχίας Μαρωνιτών Κύπρου, εις διαδοχήν του Αρχιεπισκόπου Πέτρου Τζεμάγιελ, ο οποίος υπέβαλε παραίτηση λόγω ηλικίας.
Ο Πάπας Βενέδικτος Δέκατος Εκτος έχει επικυρώσει αυτήν την εκλογή.

New Archbishop of Cyprus

Statment

The Secretary of the Maronite Patriarchate announces that the Bishops' Synode, of the Patriarchal Maronite Church, has elected Mgr. Youssef Antoine Soueif, the pastor of Saint Maron's church in Tripoli, and the Episcopal Vicar of the pastoral affairs at the diocese of Tripoli, Archbishop of the Cyprus Maronite diocese, as a successor of Archbishop Boutros Al-Gemmayel, who retired due to age.
The Pope Benedictus the Sixteenth has approved this election.

Beatification of Louis & Zelie Martin

On Sunday 19th of October 2008, dedicated to the missions, the parents of the patroness of missionaries -- the "Little Flower" Therese of Lisieux -- Louis and Zélie Martin were beatified together at their daughter's French shrine in Lisieux.

Οι μακάριοι αυτοί διαφύλαξαν την πίστη και την ελπίδα μέσα στα καθήκοντα και τις δυσκολίες της ζωής.

Ανάθρεψαν τα παιδιά τους προετοιμάζοντας τα να γίνουν και αυτά άγιοι.

Είθε η προσευχή τους και το παράδειγμα τους στηρίζουν τις οικογένειες στην χριστιανική τους ζωή και βοηθήσουν εμάς όλους να βαδίσουμε προς την αγιοσύνη.

God Our Father, we praise You for Louis and Zélie Martin, a truly faithful husband and wife, who lived their Christian life in an exemplary way through their duties in life and practice of Gospel teaching. In bringing up a large family, in spite of trials, bereavements and suffering, they showed immense trust in You and obedience to Your will.

Lord deign to manifest Your will in their regard and grant me the favours I implore while praying that the father and mother of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus be presented as models of family life today.

The 91st Anniversary of the great Miracle of Fatima

Tomorrow, the 13th October 2008, is the 91st Anniversary of the great Miracle of Fatima, when the dancing of the sun and its falling towards the earth was witnessed by some 60,000 people. Fatima constitutes a major announcement from Heaven, an announcement accompanied by a very great public miracle. The purpose of this miracle was both to confirm its authenticity and to emphasize its gravity. What was this announcement? It was that God wished to establish in the world devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It was through this devotion that peace would be given to the world once the Pope, in union with all of the Bishops of the world, consecrated Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Η ΥΨΩΣΗ ΤΟΥ ΤΙΜΙΟΥ ΣΤΑΥΡΟΥ

14η Σεπτεμβρίου

Εισαγωγή για την περίοδο του Τιμίου Σταυρού

Με την περίοδο του Τιμίου Σταυρού τελειώνουμε τον κύκλο του Μαρωνιτικού λειτουργικού ημερολογίου το οποίο αρχίζει με την ανύψωση του Τιμίου Σταυρού 14 Σεπτεμβρίου που διαρκεί για 7 εβδομάδες, ως την αρχή του νέου λειτουργικού κύκλου, την 1η Κυριακή του Νοεμβρίου.

Αυτή η περίοδος είναι η περίοδος της προσκύνησης του Σταυρού που άλλοτε συμβόλιζε το θάνατο και την ατιμία ενώ τώρα με το Χριστό Εσταυρωμένο, ζώντα και αναστάντα από τους νεκρούς έγινε ο Σταυρός της δόξας, της ζωής και του φωτός, σημείο του ερχομού του Υιού του ανθρώπου, δοξασμένου στο τέλος των καιρών που θα δικάσει ζώντας και νεκρούς που η βασιλεία Του δεν θα έχει τέλος. Ύστερα από τρεις αιώνες συνεχές μαρτυρίου αναζητώντας να τοποθετήσουν τους Χριστιανούς κάτω από τους Ρωμαϊκούς αυτοκράτορες, τον Θεό τους και τους ειδωλολάτρες τους ενώ ο ίδιος Ρωμαίος Αυτοκράτορας γονυπέτησε και προσκύνησε τον ένδοξο Τίμιο Σταυρό όπως λένε οι μαρωνίτικοι ψαλμοί μας, κατά την εορτή της ανύψωσης του Τιμίου Σταυρού:

Όταν ο ένδοξος Κωνσταντίνος ανακοίνωσε αυτό το μυστήριο:

«Ρωμαϊκέ λαέ, ο Σταυρός μου έδωσε δύναμη και δόξα, προσκυνείστε λοιπόν αυτόν τον Σταυρό, ευχαριστώντας και δοξάζοντας το Χριστό αναγγέλλοντας το Λόγο Του».

Η ζωή του προσευχόμενου πιστού μένει ενωμένη καθημερινά με το μυστήριο του δοξασμένου Σταυρού και με το πρόσωπο του Ιησού Χριστού, αναστημένου και ζωντανού στα δεξιά του Θεού Πατέρα. Ο Ιησούς είναι η αρχή της πίστης και της σωτηρίας μας. Αυτός είναι το τέλος της ελπίδας μας, της τέλειας αγάπης μας και της αιώνιας ευτυχίας μας.

Η μαρωνιτική παράδοση μας δίνει ιδιαίτερα αναγνώσματα γι αυτή τη γιορτή γι αυτό επελέγησαν ιδιαίτερα αναγνώσματα γι αυτή την περίοδο και τις Κυριακές, συγκεντρωμένα πάνω στα κηρύγματα του Ιησού στην Ιερουσαλήμ (Ματ. 42-52), μιλώντας για την εσχατολογία που χωρίζεται σε τρία θέματα που περιλαμβάνουν την αξία του Σταυρού, σημείο του ερχομού του Κυρίου με δόξα για να κρίνει και να σώσει.

1η Στάση για την πίστη: Αναγγέλλοντας τον ερχομό του Κυρίου και των σημείων Του.

2ο Πνευματικό σημείο: Να επαγρυπνούμε και να περιμένουμε σταθερά τον ερχομό του Κυρίου.

3το Πρακτική στάση: Η καλή πράξη που μας προετοιμάζει για τον ερχομό του Κυρίου για να βασιλέψουμε μαζί Του.

Εσύ που χορήγησες τη δύναμη στον ‘αγιο με τρόπο θαυμαστό για να σταματήσει και να κατανικήσει τον εχθρό μέσα στο ερμητήριό του με τις μοναχικές και ιερατικές αρετές: φτώχεια υπακοή, αγνότητα. Σε παρακαλούμε να δεχθείς την ευχαριστία της αγάπης μας προς Σε, για να σε υπηρετούμε ακολουθώντας το παράδειγμα του Αγίου Σιάρπελ.

Beatification of Abouna Yaacoub

The Catholic Church is preparing for the beatification of a Lebanese professed priest of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchins, born in Ghazir in the Lebanese hillside, Fr Jacques Haddad, or Abouna Yaacoub his name in Arabic, (born Khalil), (1875-1954), founder of the Congregation of
Franciscan Sisters of the Cross (1933) and of numerous hospitals, hospices, and schools. A man who worked tirelessly to help the poor and the sick, regardless of nationality or religion.

The ceremony of beatification will take place on June 22, at 10 a.m. in the Centre Ville of Beirut, in Martyrs' Square. It will be presided over by Cardinal José Saraiva Martins, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, and will be concelebrated by Maronite patriarch Cardinal Nasrallah Sfeir. At noon, bells will ring at all the churches of Beirut to greet the event.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
