Σε όλα τα αγαπητά μου τέκνα, κληρικούς και λαϊκούς της εκκλησιαστικής επαρχίας των Μαρωνιτών Κύπρου.

Η ειρήνη του Κυρίου να είναι πάντοτε μαζί σας.
«Αλοίμονο σε μένα εάν δεν αναγγέλλω το χαρμόσυνο άγγελμα» (Κορ.Α,9:16)

Αυτή την έκκληση ο Απόστολος Παύλος την απευθύνει στον εαυτό του. Είναι ο καρπός της γνωριμίας του και της προσωπικής συνάντησης του με τον Αναστημένο Χριστό. Είναι ένα κάλεσμα που πρέπει να νοιώθει ο καθένας από εμάς στα βάθη του είναι του, όντας βαπτισμένος και χριστιανός.

Να σκορπίσουμε το χαρμόσυνο άγγελμα είναι η ενσάρκωση της ουσιαστικής πίστης που βιώνουμε και μας κάνει όλους απόστολους και ιεραπόστολους.

Με αυτό το πνεύμα αναγγέλλω το άνοιγμα του κέντρου κατήχησης και πολιτισμού των Μαρωνιτών.

St.Charbel Feast in Limassol‏

Την Τετάρτη 22/7/2009 παραμονή της εορτής του Αγ. Σιάρπελ προστάτη της ενορίας της Λεμεσού, οι πιστοί κατέκλυσαν την εκκλησία για να προσευχηθούν ενωμένοι με τον Αρχιεπίσκοπο και τους ιερείς που τον πλαισίωναν.

Στο κήρυγμα του ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Σουέηφ αφού μίλησε για την ζωή και το φωτεινό παράδειγμα του Αγίου Σιάρπελ, θέλησε επίσης να ευχαριστήσει με ιδιαίτερο τρόπο τον εφημέριο Πατέρα Ιωακείμ Σιχάν ο οποίος υπηρέτησε με μεγάλο αποστολικό ζήλο την Λεμεσό, τα Πολεμίδια και την Πάφο και μας αφήνει για να επιστρέψει και πάλι στην επισκοπική περιφέρεια από όπου είχε σταλεί για υπηρεσία και προκαθορισμένη περίοδο.

" Ο Πατέρας Ιωακείμ, είπε, είναι μια παρουσία εξαίρετου ιερέα, άνθρωπος του Θεού, διανοούμενος, γεμάτος χαρίσματα πνευματικά και ανθρώπινα. Όλο αυτό τον χρόνο προσπάθησα με διάφορους τρόπους να τον πείσω να παραμείνει μαζί μας αλλά τελικά σέβομαι όχι μόνο την προσωπική του απόφαση αλλά και την εκκλησιαστική."
Καλωσόρισε επίσης τον Πατέρα Pierre Baz ο οποίος θα είναι ο νέος εφημέριος λέγοντας του ότι το ιερατικό σώμα τον υποδέχεται με αγάπη και αδελφοσύνη.

Στο δείπνο που ακολούθησε παρευρέθηκαν όλοι σχεδόν οι Μαρωνίτες μαζί με άλλους φίλους της ενορίας Αγ. Σιάρπελ και Αγίας Μαρίνας για να ευχαριστήσουν και αποχαιρετήσουν τον Πατέρα Ιωακείμ και υποδεχθούν τον Πατέρα Pierre Baz.

Ευχάριστη έκπληξη και ωραία αίσθηση προκάλεσαν με το ταλέντο τους τα παιδιά μας που ανάλαβαν την πρωτοβουλία να ψυχαγωγήσουν με το καλλιτεχνικό τους πρόγραμμα τους παρευρισκομένους.

Ενθουσιασμένος πρώτος από όλους ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος μας ευχαρίστησε τους Αντώνη (κιθάρα) Βαλάντω (τραγούδι) Ελένη (τραγούδι) Ηλία (μπουζούκι) Ροβέρτο (ντράμς) Σαλόμι (τραγούδι) Χριστοφή (πιάνο) και Τζόσεφ (projection-slides show).

Την επομένη, ημέρα της γιορτής του Αγίου, μετά την θεία λειτουργία και την λιτανεία ακολούθησε, όπως κάθε χρόνο, αιμοδοσία στην αίθουσα της εκκλησίας σαν ένδειξη αγάπης και υποστήριξης στους πάσχοντες συνανθρώπους μας.

Closing the St Paul's year.

On sunday 28th June at 12.00 noon, the Legate of the Holy Father Benedict XVI, His Eminence Renato Raffaele Martino, president of the Pontifical Council Iustitia et Pax, celebrated the Holy Mass at Ayia kyriaki church in the city of Paphos, closing the St Paul's year. The Holy Mass was concelebrated by the Archbishop of the Maronites in Cyprus HE Mgr Youssef Soueif and many priests, with the participation of HE Georgos Greek Orthodox Metropolitan Bishop of Paphos and other Archimandrites, Anglican Pastors and Catholic Nuns and many faithfull from the orthodox, maronite, latin, arminien and anglican churchs living on the Island. The Solemn Mass was followed by a procession to St Paul's Pillar, concluded with a Prayer and Benediction by HE Georgos Metropolitan Bishop of Paphos.
May the Lord give us the apostolic zeal that St Paul had, that we can proclame with him: "I live now, not with my own life, but with the life of Christ who lives in me".

Celebration of the closing ceremony of St Paul’s year.

On the 29th June His Holiness the Pope Benedict XVI will celebrate the closing ceremony of the year of St Paul in the Basilica of St Paul outside the walls of Rome. I was informed by His Excellency the Apostolic Nuncio Mgr Antonio Franco that His Holiness will send to Cyprus the Pontifical legate His Eminence Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino, president of the Pontifical Council Iustitia et Pax, to celebrate in his name the closing ceremony of St Paul’s year. The Holy Mass will be celebrated in Ayia Kyriaki church in the city of Paphos on Sunday 28th June at 12 noon.

On the occasion of the great feast of 'Corpus Domini' , H.E. Προς όλους τους νέους Μαρωνίτες της Αρχιεπισκοπικής μου περιφέρειας στην Κύπρο.

Με μεγάλη χαρά, θα ήθελα να σας προσκαλέσω όλους να συμμετάσχετε στο ταξίδι που θα πραγματοποιηθεί το καλοκαίρι στο Λίβανο, από τις 23 μέχρι τις 27 Ιουλίου. Κατά τη διάρκειά του θα έχουμε την ευκαιρία να επισκεφθούμε μερικούς από τους πιο σημαντικούς ιερούς μας χώρους, αλλά και να δημιουργήσουμε μια όμορφη φιλική ατμόσφαιρα με τους Λιβανέζους Μαρωνίτες νέους με τους οποίους θα μπορέσουμε ν’ ανταλλάξουμε ιδέες και να μοιραστούμε πνευματικές, κοινωνικές και πολιτιστικές εμπειρίες.
Θα χαρώ ιδιαίτερα αν μπορέσετε να συμμετάσχετε σε αυτό το ταξίδι καθώς θα είναι επίσης μια μοναδική ευκαιρία να τελέσουμε τη Θεία Λειτουργία στο Μοναστήρι του Αγίου Σιάρπελ (Αννάγια) και να περπατήσουμε μαζί στην ιερά κοιλάδα Καντίσα συλλογιζόμενοι και αναλογιζόμενοι τη Μαρωνίτικη μας κληρονομιά.
Ελάτε να αφιερώσουμε το όμορφο αυτό ταξίδι και να καταθέσουμε την αγάπη μας στην Αειπάρθενο Μαρία και στον Άγιο Σιάρπελ, ζητώντας από τον Θεό να μας επιτρέψει να γίνουμε μάρτυρες της αγάπης Του.

A summer trip to Lebanon from the 23rd until the 27th of July.

To all the Young Maronites of my Archdiocese in Cyprus.
I would like to cordially invite all of you to take part in a summer trip to Lebanon from the 23rd until the 27th of July, during which we will have the chance to visit some of the most important Maronite shrines, but also create a nice atmosphere of friendship with the young Lebanese Maronites with whom we can exchange ideas and share spiritual, social and cultural experiences.
I will be very pleased if you could join the group as this will also be an occasion for all of us to celebrate a Holy Mass at St Charbel’s monastery in Annaya and take a walk through the Holy Valley of Kadisha, reflecting on and re-visiting our Maronite heritage.
Let us present our project to the Holy Virgin and to St Charbel, asking the Lord to let us be the witnesses of His love.

The Archbishop's Visit to Greece‏.

His Excellency the Maronite Archbishop of Cyprus Youssef Soueif is planning a
three-day visit to Athens between May 8-10 in order to visit the Maronites who are living there. On Saturday May 9 he will celebrate the Holy Mass at Saint John the Baptist Church in Athens (11 Papanastasiou, Psychiko) at 7 pm.

The Archbishop would like all the Maronite young people, students, parents and children to be present, if possible, so as to have a personal meeting with them.

A lecture with the theme « Το ιερό μυστήριο της Θείας Ευχαριστίας»

Την Τετάρτη 11/3/2009 και Ώρα 7.30.μ.μ. ο εφημέριος του Αγίου Μάρωνα της Ανθούπολης θα παρουσιάσει την δεύτερη του διάλεξη με Θέμα « Το ιερό μυστήριο της Θείας Ευχαριστίας» (Μτ 26: 26-30, Μκ 14: 22-26, Λκ 22: 14-20). Στην διάλεξη θα παρευρεθεί και ο Μακαριότατος Αρχιεπίσκοπος μας κ.κ. Ιωσήφ Σουέιφ, ο οποίος έχει μελετήσει και αναλύσει το μυστήριο της Θείας Ευχαριστίας . Να αναφέρουμε επίσης ότι ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος μας είναι μέλος της ομάδας συγγραφής των βιβλίων της λειτουργικής και έτσι γνωρίζει αρκετά καλά την λειτουργική. Η διάλεξη θα γίνει στο οίκημα της εκκλησίας που βρίσκεται πίσω από την εκκλησία του Αγίου Μάρωνα. Το πρόγραμμα της διάλεξης περιλαμβάνει τα πιο κάτω:

In the whole atmosphere of the International Year of Saint Paul, the Apostle of all Nations and the beginning of programs of theological culture that our Archdiocese plans to organise, I would like to invite you at the lecture that will be given by Rev. Antoine Shbeir (PhD) entitled

“Saint Paul face to face with the Law and the Grace”

The lecture will take place in the Maronite Archbishopric in Acropolis, Nicosia on Friday 27th February 2009 at 6.00 pm

Visit to St. Marina at Polemidia

Last Sunday 25th January, 2009 our Archbishop visited the church of St. Marina at Polemidia where he celebrated the Mass at 10.30 a.m. After that he had lunch at the Maronite Youth Club with all parishioners and the Mayor of Polemidia in a warm and family atmosphere.

In the afternoon, he started his pilgrimage from St. Charbel church with the relics of our Patron Saint accompanied by our priests and a good number of parishioners to Paphos, on the feast of St Paul’s conversion and the concluding day of prayers for the unity of all Christians.

In St. Kyriaki Church Kato Paphos, near the pillar of St Paul, he was welcomed by the latin priest as well as the Anglican Pastor and he celebrated the Mass in the presence of the Metropolitan of Paphos and the Superior of St. Neophytos Monastery and Bishop of Hitron.

The Mass was followed by a cocktail in the Anglican Church Hall where everybody had the possibility to meet and discuss with our Archbishop.

The first visit of the Archbishop to Limassol in the beginning of the week of prayer for the unity of all christians was so warm with the welcoming of all parisheners and our guest from the other churchs; they liked specially the speech of the Archbihop talking about the division, he talked about divrsity wish can be a sign of richness. The dialogue is the best way to respect, and live together as brothers to the same God the Father.
Next sunday, we will conclude the visit in Polemedia, the 2nd church in Limassol for the maronite, and a pellegrimmage to Paphos, to visit the maronites there, in the day we celebrate the conversion of st Paul, and we conclude this week praying for the unity.

Ιωσήφ Αντωνίου Σουέϊφ θα επισκεφτεί τους Μαρωνίτες της Πάφου την Κυριακή 25 Ιανουαρίου 2009, όπου θα τελέσει την Θεία Λειτουργία στην Εκκλησία Αγ. Κυριακής Κάτω Πάφου η ώρα 4:00 μμ.

Visit of the Archbishop of the Maronites of Cyprus

On the occasion of the week of prayers for the unity of all Christians and of Saint Paul’s Year, willing to pray at his place, HE Youssef Antoine Soueif Archbishop of the Maronites of Cyprus
will visit the Maronites of Paphos on Sunday 25th January 2009, and will celebrate the Holy Mass at St Kyriaki’s Church Kato Paphos at 4.00 pm

Visit of the Archbishop of the Maronites of Cyprus
